Leigh Shore Gin 70cl

(7 customer reviews)

£35.00

This gin celebrates the smells and tastes of our local fishing village Old Leigh. Wrack Seaweeds and Samphire are found along our Essex shoreline, so we wanted to distil a London Dry Gin celebrating our coastal food.

This gin is produced within the Pigs Bay Distillery using natural juniper, coriander, some zest flavours of lemongrass and lemon, as well as some herb notes from fresh locally grown rosemary to compliment the seafood/shellfish flavours that the seaweed imparts.

This is an unusual and very distinct flavoured gin.

Description

This Gin is proofed with the purest Essex water, but still retains a slight seaweed green hue.

This is such a specialist gin and works well with just a plain tonic and garnished with a slice of lemon and a sprig of rosemary. The gin particularly compliments any seafood and can we recommend boozy fresh oysters drizzled with this neat gin.

Pigs Bay gins are painstakingly gravity filtered using charcoal and then coconut to give the spirit a malt-like palate.

The gin has been requested by local chefs who wish to experiment with new menu items.

Definately different from usual gin..hint of the sea..still very smooth

  2. Anne (verified owner)

Lovely clean taste with a subtle salty tang.

  3. Robert (verified owner)

It tastes like a bad mussel smell. My wife a seasoned gin drinker and mussel eater cannot drink it and is disappointed.

This is a divisive gin and at tasting events about 1 in 100 people will dislike it. It has a distinct seafood flavour and smell. Someone recently said it reminded them of walking out on Leigh Shore after the tide had gone out and smelling the seaweed and cockles. Fortunately about 10% of people at tasting events rate this as the best gin that they have ever tasted and it has been given critical acclaim by professional taste testers, as well as local bars and restaurants. So it has more lovers than haters. We always advise any prospective buyer to purchase a taster pack first to sample this gin.
